Jakarta, March 25 – Welfare and Justice Party (PKS) has prepared 17,000 people to be posted as witnesses at polling stations in Jakarta on voting day (April 9) for the legislative elections, a party spokesman said.
Triwisaksana, chairman of the PKS Jakarta chapter in his press release made available to Antara here Wednesday said that the party’s effort to post witnesses at every polling station was aimed at make closer watch for the party’s voices.
Such initiative was also intended to prevent anyone from committing fraud at all polling stations during the election day, he said.
“Of course there will be many perceptions about the forms of staining and which form is the correct one,” he cited.
In addition, the witnesses would perhaps involve in debating on the correct form of staining on the polling stations, therefore PKS should make sure that its witnesses be present at the polling stations to keep its votes secured.
According to him the party would also analyse the types of fraud which likely happen at the polling stations.
PKS is one of 38 political parties across the country and six local parties in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province, which will participate in the legislative polls on April 9, prior to direct presidential election on July 8, 2009.
Ahead of the polls, a three-week outdoor campaigning activity was nationally kicked off on Monday (March 16) and will last until April 5.
